Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

ProposalDescription: 

Anglo American Platinum’s Rustenburg Base Metals Refiners (RBMR) requires reagents in support of processing applications at their Magnetic Concentrator (MC) Plant and BMR plants. The chemicals are received, stored and distributed from a centralised bulk chemical storage facility. However, continuous leaks and loss of bund integrity have resulted in the contamination of the current site’s substrate resulting in heaving of the foundations. The chemical storage plant therefore needs to be relocated.

Expanded_Motivation: 

The proposed project triggers activities listed in terms of Listing Notices 1 and Listing Notice 2 of the NEMA and will therefore require an EA from the North West Department of Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism (DEDECT). Since the project triggers activities in Listing Notice 2 of the NEMA, a full Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) including Scoping and Impact Assessment will be followed as stipulated in Government Notice Regulation (GNR) 326 of the NEMA.The proposed project will take place within Rustenburg Local Municipality, in the North West Province. The proposed bulk chemical storage facility will be located on greenfields on Portion 42 of Farm Waterval 303JQ,
