Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

1. THE ALTERATIONS TO THE BUILDING ARE CLASSIFIED AS MINOR BUILDING WORKS 2. A NEW TENANT IS REQUIRING MINOR CHANGES TO THE PLAN IN ORDER FOR THEM TO MOVE IN. 3. NO CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE TO THE HOUSE FOR ALMOST 20 YEARS. 4. THERE ARE NO CHANGES TO THE EXTERNAL ENVELOPE OF THE BUILDING. 5. INTERNAL CHANGES AS FOLLOWS : - SOME MINOR DEMOLITION WORK (MOSTLY DRYWALLING) - STRIPPING BACK OF CARPETS TO REVEAL PRE-EXISTING FLOOR FINISHES. - REUSE OF EXISTING OLD DOORS WHERE POSSIBLE - NEW DRYWALLING AND DOORS TO CREATE NEW ROOMS (OFFICES / MEETING ROOMS) - NEW KITCHENETTE - NEW DOORS Architectural Significance: THE BUILDING IS A CAPE DUTCH INSPIRED DOUBLE STOREY WITH TYPICAL DECORATIVE GABLE ENDS, STEEL AND LEAD WINDOWS, AND ORNATE DETAILING OF BALCONY WALLS AND CHIMNEYS. THE MAJORITY OF THE HOUSE REMAINS IN TACT AND THE HOUSE UNDERWENT SOME MINOR ALTERATIONS BY DESIGNWORKSHOP CIRCA 2002, INCLUDING; - THE REPLACEMENT OF A SMALL ADJOINING ROOM WITH OFFICE SPACE AND ACCESSIBLE BALCONY ABOVE. - OPENING UP OF THE ROOF TRUSSES ON THE FIRST FLOOR AND SOME INTERIOR STRUCTURAL WORK TO OPEN UP THE FLOOR PLAN TO SUIT THE CHANGE OF USE FROM RESIDENTIAL TO COMMERCIAL. Urban Setting & Adjoining Properties: THE BUILDING SITS WITHIN THE WELL ESTABLISHED AND AWARD WINNING BELLEVUE CAMPUS, A COMMERCIAL PRECINCT DESIGNED BY DESIGNWORKSHOP IN 2002. SURROUNDED BY ELONGATED, MODERN AND SIMPLE CONCRETE AND GLASS BUILDINGS, THE EXISTING HOUSE TAKES PRIDE IN PLACE WITHIN THE PUBLIC GARDEN LOOKING OUT OVER THE POND.
