Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

ProposalDescription: 

BMJ Coal (Pty) Ltd plans to establish a washing plant to augment the existing coal processing facility comprising of screening, crushing and storing of coal. The existing facility is located on Portion 13 of the Farm Doornrug 302 JS, within the area of jurisdiction of the Emalahleni Local Municipality, Mpumalanga Province.

Expanded_Motivation: 

The BMJ Coal processing facility, which is bordered by the N4 freeway to the north, is located approximately 15km west of Emalahleni. The site is located approximately 3km west-south-west of the Kwa-Guqa and Empumelelweni Townships. Road R104, which runs almost parallel to the N4 freeway and the southern boundary of the study area, stretched in a west east direction approximately 1km to the south of the southern boundary of the study area. Mining related activities occur to the north, east and west of the site and a strip of cultivated lands is located to the south of the study area. A tributary of the Grootspruit flows in a south-westerly direction approximately 1km to the south-east of the subject site towards the Grootspruit which in turn flows west before its confluences with the Saalklapspruit within quaternary catchment B20G.
