ProposalDescription:

Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd, Limpopo Operating Unit (LOU) intends to construct the power line for the above-mentioned project. The power line will include MV which will be connected to the existing power line in the area (refer to the Span plan sheets and the Pegging Coordinates for more information) Mashishimale village, Ba-Phalaborwa local Municipality of the Limpopo Province.

Expanded_Motivation:

The project area is currently used for residential purposes and heavily degraded by current land use activities such as the roads, existing power line and property boundary fences lines. Given the observation that the area is heavily degraded Eskom LOU request the Heritage Compliance Agency to exempt this project from full heritage assessment studies or any further AIA/HIA studies and grant us permission to proceed with the development as proposed. However, should any of the heritage resources, including graves or human remains be encountered or discovered during construction, Eskom shall immediately cease construction, inform SAHRA, other relevant Department and as soon as possible contract a professional archaeologist to inspect the findings and conduct investigation as prescribed by the Act.
