Case Type:

ProposalDescription:

The uMngeni Municipality seeks permission to demolish the existing burnt down admin kiosk building located at the Howick Falls Precinct near Goddard Park on Falls drive. The proposed demolition is for the burnt down structures on Portion 1 of ERF 755, Howick, KwaZulu-Natal. Drawing No: 61/99

Expanded_Motivation:

As part of its commitment to clean up, restore, and rehabilitate the Howick Falls Precinct to its former grandeur, uMngeni Local Municipality requests permission to remove the burnt-down structures that used to be an admin kiosk for the Howick Falls nature conservancy and bush golf operation located near Falls Drive on Goddard Park. The structure is presently in ruins and has attracted unlawful activity, which discourages tourists from using the Gorge Walk. The area is presently populated by street kids engaged in drug sales and other activities. This has resulted in a significant degradation of the property and created concerns over the safety and environmental management of the Precinct.
