Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Special Notice

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

ProposalDescription: 

Tshisiku Mining and Trading Pty Ltd proposes to undertake prospecting activities for Vanadium, Iron Ore, Titanium and Manganese. The application for the prospecting activities was lodged with the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy in terms of the Minerals and Petroleum Resources Development Act (28;2002) ,The proposed site is located approximately 25 km south west of Belfast town in the Emakhazeni local municipality under Nkangala Magisterial District, Mpumalanga Province

Expanded_Motivation: 

Prospecting is the research, planning and development phase of one or more mining projects. It is the pre-curserto the primary industrial development of mining in a country which forms the foundation for the growth of thesecondary manufacturing (including beneficiation), tertiary sector, service, IT and high finance sectors essential tothe developing economy such as that of South Africa. By the very nature of a mineral resource, the position of amine is determined by the occurrence of the natural resource and is often positioned in poorer sectors of thecountry, which allows for economic development within these communities. The evaluation of a project aims todetermine whether ore deposits occurs and if so, does it occur in economically extractable quantities. Initiallythese are measured in tonnage and grade. While geological studies are integral to prospecting, prospecting alsoincludes, amongst others, infrastructural, environmental, socio-economic, financial evaluation and metallurgicalstudies thereby encouraging the national research and educational sectors
