Development Type:

ProposalDescription:

DOBX Mining Resources (Pty) Ltd proposes to establish a small-scale limestone mining operation. The total development area will be approximately 5.0 hectares, and will have a lifespan of 2 years. The process will include the excavation of limestone from the demarcated land. The limestone will be stored in stockpiles within the 5.0 hectare area. The excavated limestone will be transported using a Truck Load Backhoe (TLB) to the campsite, located within the 5.0 hectares. Maruping, Kuruman, Northern Cape

Expanded_Motivation:

The limestone mining industry is one of the important industries in the country and Kuruman Reservaat 690 about 16 km North of Kuruman has an abundant supply of this resource. The proposed method of excavating limestone allows easy access of drilling rig to the site and does not require extensive machinery as other methods, making it feasible for small-scale miners. It reduces the overall costs associated with the mining process, thus allowing financial viability in small scale mining of deposits. DOBX Mining Resources (Pty) Ltd would contribute towards local socio-economic development, as it aims to provide employment opportunities to the local people as far as possible, thus stimulating development in the Kuruman community. The proposed project therefore is an effort to make use of available opportunities and development in the Ga-Segonyana Municipality.
