Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

THE PROPOSED ESTABLISHMENT OF PIENAARSRIVIER CEMETERY ON ERF 607 IN PIENAARSRIVIER EXTENSION 1 WITHIN BELA - BELA LOCAL MUNICIPALITY, WATERBERG DISTRICT, LIMPOPO PROVINCE.BELA- BELA LOCAL MUNICIPALITY INTENDS TO DEVELOP A CEMETERY ON AN AREA OF AN APPROXIMATELY 3.2 HA ON ERF 607 LOCATED IN PIENAARSRIVIER EXTENSION 1 WITHIN BELA-BELA LOCAL MUNICIPALITY. THIS SITE IS ACCESSIBLE THROUGH CATANHOS STREET.

Expanded_Motivation: 

Bela-Bela Local Municipality intends to establish cemetery on an area of approximately 3.2 Ha on erf 607 Extension 1 in Pienaarsivier within Bela-Bela Local Municipality, Waterberg District. The proposed project will include the following activity: erection of perimeter fencing & access gate. This site is situated along the R101 National Road, and it will be accessed through Catanhos street. The central coordinates to the site are 25 12'43.26"S 28 17'46.70"E. The reason behind the development is the: Shortage of burial sites, Community residents will continue using the site as an illegal dumping site, Potential deterioration of bare land and waterlog will continuously be experienced on site The following is the scope of work identified for the proposed cemetery development: • Construction of boundary fence and access gate • Burials According to the cemetery and crematoria By-law, 2004 published in Gauteng Provincial Gazette no. 179 commenced on 21 May 2004, the standard size of a grave is as follows: • An adult’s grave must measure 2 300 mm in length and 900 mm in width and 2000 mm in depth • A child's grave must measure 1 500 mm in length and 700 mm in width and 1 500 mm in depth. 1.1.1 Site Description The proposed site is adjacent to a school, and it is covered by grass and trees. During the site visit electrical transmission poles were observed that pass through the site, there were also concrete rubbles and other waste which indicates that the site is currently being used as an illegal dumping site.
