Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Umzinyathi District Municipality proposes to construct Driefontein water supply scheme – Excelsior. Driefontein is located in the Nquthu Local Municipality within the jurisdiction of the uMzinyathi District Municipality. The objective of the Driefontein water supply scheme project is to supply the community of Driefontein with clean and safe water to drink.

Expanded_Motivation: 

The proposed project intends to provide the community of Driefontein with clean and adequate supply of water. The connection of standpipes to the community of Driefontein will benefit 1476 people residing in 246 households. This project aims to address the current basic service backlog of water which the community of Driefontein experience. The current existing water source for this community is the borehole system, which currently is unable to meet the daily water demands of the community or to deliver water to homes. The proposed project involves the following activities in order to deliver adequate water to the community: • Off take meter chambers. • Installation of 1 No.-50KL and 1 KL Break Pressure Tanks. • Construction of Inlet and Outlet chamber. • Laying, testing and disinfecting of 2.28km, 90-110mmØ uPVC pipeline. • Laying, testing and disinfecting of 17.55km, 50-75mmØ HDPE pipeline. • Construction of 43 valve chambers (Air, Scour and Isolation valve chambers). • Construction of 46 standpipes.
