Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Eshane Rural Subsidised Housing Development

The proposed Eshane Rural Subsidised Housing project will result in the construction of approximately 300 new top structures and will therefore service approximately 300 beneficiaries and their associated families. One VIP will be constructed per top structure. Construction of the top structures and VIP will be within each existing imuzi (development footprint). There will be no construction of roads or pipelines and development will not take place within any watercourses, within 32m of a watercourse, or within CBA: Irreplaceable areas. There will be no disturbance to any graves that may occur on site.

Expanded_Motivation: 

The proposed Eshane Rural Subsidised Housing project will result in the construction of approximately 300 new top structures and will therefore service approximately 300 beneficiaries and their associated families. One VIP will be constructed per top structure. Construction of the top structures and VIP will be within each existing imuzi (development footprint). There will be no construction of roads or pipelines and development will not take place within any watercourses, within 32m of a watercourse, or within CBA: Irreplaceable areas. There will be no disturbance to any graves that may occur on site. The proposed Eshane Rural Housing Development is located within Ward 4 of the Umvoti Local Municipality and has a total extent of approximately 254.75 ha. The site is made up of the Remaining Extent of Farm Nelsmare No. 4094. The southern portion of the site is occupied by rural / traditional dwellings whilst the northern portion is vacant and contains environmentally sensitive attributes. From the desktop assessment that was undertaken, environmentally sensitive attributes such as rivers, drainage lines and CBA: Irreplaceable areas were identified within the project area.
