Development Type:

ProposalDescription:

Proposed 22kV power line from Reitz munic substation to Petsana exyension 2. Power line to be constructed with wooden pole structures that goes maximum 1.8 meters into the ground. The power line to be stringed with hare conductor. The power is to take off from an existing power line in the substation vicinity and aligned along existing power lines. Reitz, Nketoana local municipality, Free State province

Expanded_Motivation:

The project addresses the following Eskom strategic imperatives: Universal access as well as sales growth and revenue collection initiatives to grow revenues to support the future financial sustainability of the company. The project is needed to electrify 200 stands in order to comply with the Integrated Development Plan of Nketoana Local Municipality. Contributing to reaching universal access for Free State province. Not executing the project will result in failure to reaching government’s initiative in order to provide basic services to indigent members of the communities. A proposed alternative is to upgrade the existing substation with a new feeder bay for a supply power line to Petsana. A new 11kV power line will be constructed from a line close to the substation along the outskirts of Petsana to the new Petsana extension for electrification purposes.
