ProposalDescription:

New excavations at Border Cave have established fine resolution stratigraphic data. We now need to obtain a reliable chronology for the strata. OSL has not been successful because of the shortage of quartz grains in the sediment. We are therefore going to use ESR dating on tooth enamel and thermoluminescence (TL) dating on quartz-rich minerals that have been heated. I therefore request an export and destruction permit for four unworked agate pieces, 11 samples of bovid and equid tooth enamel and 22 samples of Achatina shell. Proposal from Gauteng.
