ProposalDescription:

Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd, Limpopo Operating Unit (LOU) intends to construct the power line for the above-mentioned project. The power line will include new 1.122M LV and 0.271M MV, which will T-off from the existing power line in pole number KBK127 (refer to the Span plan sheets and the Pegging Coordinates for more information). The power line is traversing on the farm of Johnstoneshoek No.530-LS in Polokwane Local Municipality of Capricorn District Municipality of the Limpopo Province.

Expanded_Motivation:

Environmental Screening of the power line route was conducted during pegging of the power line route by Survey team and site verification done by Environmental Practitioner which lead to the generation of the servitude planning documents [Distribution Environmental Screening Document (DESD), Wayleave, Span plan and Pegging coordinates attached for your reference]. Heritage resources such as properly fenced off grave yards were not observed on site, see 6.3 of the DESD. The project is within the residential area that is already disturbed by current land use activities such as the existing roads, existing power line, houses and Property boundary fence. Given the observation that the area is already disturbed, Eskom LOU here by notifies SAHRA of the proposed construction of the power line which is more than 300M in length. However, should any of the heritage resources, including graves or human remains be encountered or discovered during construction, Eskom shall immediately cease construction, inform SAHRA office, other relevant Department and as soon as possible contract a professional archaeologist to inspect the findings and conduct investigation as prescribed by the Act
