Changes to SAHRIS!

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Heritage comment for assessment of Farm Gloria

Expanded_Motivation: 

This application is linked to the case/application opened for Sitatunga Resources, (Previously Southern Ambition) (Reference no:14933) Phase 1 Archaeological Impact Assessment (AIA) for the proposed expansion of the East Manganese mining operation on a portion intersecting Portion 1 of the Farm Gloria 266 and Portion 1 of the Farm East 270 near Hotazel in the Northern Cape Province. Initially most of the specialists’ studies for the application of the EA and Mining Right included the assessments on Portion 1 of the Farm Gloria 266, however, the Heritage Impact Assessment lacked investigations on this portion hence this study has been conducted. Portion 1 of the Farm Gloria is not included as part of the property description on the EA, however, DMRE has recommended that no regulatory amendments should be made due to the fact that most of the specialist work included Farm Gloria on the initial application. Only surface agreement is needed between Gloria Mine and Sitatunga Manganese. The Environmental Authorization NC 30/5/1/2/2/10137 MR was issued on the 29th of February 2019, and the Mining Right was granted on the 31st of July 2019 for East Manganese Mine.
