Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

The proposed development site will occur over two properties that lie next to each other. The first property, Blaauwbank Farm, Number 241, Portion 39, is a total of 70.2356 hectares. The second property, Blaauwbank Farm, Number 241, Portion 40, is a total of 69.5091 hectares. Together the total area intended to be cleared is 139,7447 hectares in extent. The site was previously used as a game farm and consists of small shrubs, scattered trees and a variety of grasses. Vegetation has been cleared on site as follows: • 36.6ha cleared completely to make room for crop fields

Expanded_Motivation: 

The main motivation for the proposed project is the socio economic benefits the project poses for the surrounding area and community. Benefits of the proposed development include: • Job creation. • Training opportunities. • Growth for local economy. • Work opportunities for local contractors. • Food production. • Food security. • Left over crops from the cultivation process that are not sold to big markets by the farmer will be given to the local community and sold at affordable prices.
