Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

The proposed development site is 73.23112ha in size and intended to be transformed into an Orange Orchard. The site was previously used as a game farm and consists of small shrubs, scattered trees and a variety of grasses. Vegetation has been cleared on site as follows: • 6.6ha cleared completely to make room for the orange orchard. • 0.4ha cleared to make room for a dam that will form part of the irrigation network. • 12.1ha partially cleared of small shrubs to make room for the orange orchard. Total amount of vegetation cleared: 19.1 hectares.

Expanded_Motivation: 

The main motivation for the proposed project is the socio economic benefits the development provides to the surrounding community. Benefits of the proposed development include: • Job creation in the local community. • Training opportunities. • Growth for local economy. • Work opportunities for local contractors. • Food production. • Food security. • Oranges that are not sold to big markets will be given to the local community and sold at affordable prices.
