Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

ProposalDescription: 

Eskom Holdings SOC Limited’s Limpopo Operating Unit (LOU) intends to construct the power line for the above-mentioned project. The power line will include new 0.851 KM LV and 0.235 KM MV powerline which will T-off from existing MV power line and pole number SJK2/54/29 refer to the Span plan and the pegging coordinate spreadsheet). The power lines will be in situ development and transverse on the farm Remainder of Moordkopje 813-LR in Mogalakwena Local Municipality at Waterberg District of the Limpopo Province.

Expanded_Motivation: 

Environmental Screening of the powerline route was conducted during pegging of the project and pegging of the route by Survey team and site verification by Environmental Practitioner which lead to the generation of the servitude planning documents [Distribution Environmental Screening Document (DESD), Wayleave, Span plan and Pegging coordinates attached for your reference] Heritage resources outlined on item 6.3 of the DESD were not observed on site. The project area is within the residential area currently heavily degraded by current land use activities such as the access roads, power line, water pipelines, existing powerline and property boundary fence. Eskom LOU here by notifies SAHRA of the proposed construction of the powerline which is more than 300M in length. However, should any of the heritage resources, including graves or human remains be encountered or discovered during construction, Eskom shall immediately cease construction, inform SAHRA office, other relevant Department and as soon as possible contract a professional archaeologist to inspect the findings and conduct investigation as prescribed by the Act
