ProposalDescription:

A permit application for the proposed relocation of a single grave from Portion 16 of the farm Vlakvarkfontein 213 IR, Victor Khanye Local Municipality, Mpumalanga Province.

Expanded_Motivation:

The grave in question is a stone concentration and although a social consultation process was undertaken, no next of kin for the grave could be identified. In this regard it is also important to note that the grave dressing does not contain any formal grave features such as a headstone or surface grave goods. The only suggestion that a grave might be located here was from a local resident who believes that the stone concentration is a grave. The local resident has been living on the farm since 1968 and in all that time has never seen any families visiting the position of the grave. As a result I am not sure whether a grave is indeed located here, but in such cases it is best practice to assume that a grave is indeed located here unless proven otherwise. As indicated in the permit application, the grave is situated within their mining footprint and will have to be relocated.
