ProposalDescription:

Demolition of Khayalami hospital, Kempton Park, Guateng

Expanded_Motivation:

Khayalami Hospital was constructed in the late 1970’s and was operational until 1995, after which it has been unoccupied and not maintained. This has resulted in the hospital buildings being vandalized to a state of despair, requiring the building to be demolished and reconstructed to make way for a new 350 Beds District Hospital Level. The Khayalami hospital is located in the vibrant metropolitan municipality of Ekurhuleni which was established in year 2000 (coordinates: 26° 04’22” S and 28° 12’59” E). The site is located at the Cnr Elgin Road (M89) and Miervreter Street The area is well serviced by surfaced roads and is bordered by the following higher order roads mainly: • M89-Elgin Road to the North, and then two lesser roads, • Mietvreter St to the west and • Christoffel Street to the South. These roads interconnect to the M86, providing access to the R25.
