ProposalDescription:

THE PROPOSED DAM UPGRADE AND CONSTRUCTION OF ROADS IN FARM LADY GREY 646 LR AND STERKFONTEIN 644 LR, LEPHALALE LOCAL MUNICIPALITY, LIMPOPO PROVINCE

Expanded_Motivation:

Nyati Property Holdings (Pty)Ltd operates a game farm on the adjacent proposed property, called Nyati Wilderness. Nyati Property Holdings (Pty)Ltd later acquired the farm Lady Grey 646 LR and Sterkfontein 644 LR to extent the Nyati Wilderness area to the east. The farms Lady Grey 646 LR and Sterkfontein 644 LR is approximately 2164ha in extent and are situated directly east of the eastern boundary of Nyati Wilderness within Lephalale Local Municipality, Limpopo Province. The Lady Grey farm has very limited existing infrastructure with the exception of existing gravel roads, three dams and what looks like old farm sheds. The objective of the project is to incorporate Lady Grey and Sterkfontein into the hunting safaris and conservation functions of Nyati Wilderness, a farm adjacent to Lady grey that is owned by the applicant. The core business is game viewing and game hunting and the ecological sense of space will need to be maintained, as will high-value conservation / hunting species to maintain the business. Therefore, the applicant proposes a construction of new 13 New roads, maintain/ upgrade the existing roads and expand three existing dams within the property to provide a permanent water supply to the fauna that occupy the game farm. These roads will provide access to some of the more remote parts of the farm in order to increase management activities and game viewing possibilities. The proposed activities will, in part, contribute to the proper operation of the game farm and to direct conservation and survival of species (water provision). Conservation importance will remain high.
