Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Loretlweng Electrification

This project is an Eskom Electrification Project. The Township, Loretlweng, falls under Kagisano Molopo Local Municipality. It is part of the 2023/2024 Electrification Plan. The new development consists of 143 stands and 116 of them are occupied. The houses are of tin, mud, and brick type. Communal water has been installed and Electricity to be supplied by Eskom. The project will will entail construction of 22 kV (medium volatge) powerline, low voltage powerline, mount transformers and split boxes and connect houses. The area is in Ganyesa, in the North West Province.

Expanded_Motivation: 

The proposed project is a linear activity which is more than 350m. This trigger section 38 (1) of the National Heritage Resources Act, 1995 which requires SAHRA to be notified of the development. Loretlweng has sandy soil, the slope is flat and vegetation cover include shrubs and acacia trees i.e. camel thorn trees. No heritage resources have been identified on site. The is existing water pipes and pit toilets in the area. There is also existing powerline in the area, where t-off will be commisioned to supply new houses. There is a low voltage connecting some of the houses that will be dismantled, then the houses will be connected on the new powerline to be built.
