Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Eston quarry is an existing free dig quarry situated on the farm Fairview, Portion 1 of Fairview No 15281, 700m from the R603 and approximately 15 km from the Camperdown N3 offramp. Most of the decomposed material has been removed by mechanical means, leaving even benches of softer shale/Gravel (G1-G7) rock of approximately 5m before becoming competent Gravel (G1-G7). Interested and affected parties are outside the 500m radius, being Rainbow Chicken Farm (RCL) and Beaumont Eston Farmer’s Club (BEFA). Other more distant parties include Tala Game Reserve. The district road is 220m from the mining boundary. The total area available for mining activity is 4.29 hectors. See attached plan for a detailed location and area in extent. The site for the proposed quarry mining is located in Mkhambathini local Municipality, uMgungundlovu District KwaZulu-Natal Province of South Africa. It is proposed that 4.29ha. hectors will be used for mining. The depth of extraction will be 15m. Extraction of quarry is approximately 75000³ per annum. The equipment that will be used is 2 excavators, 2 TLB’s, and 4x8 ton trucks.
