ProposalDescription:

The mine is currently in the process of mining Quarry 6. However, all other activities have ceased. It was an opencast rip-and-doze operation along the gentle scarp slope of a range of low hills.

Expanded_Motivation:

The mine is proposing to backfill Quarry 6 with mine residue as part of its rehabilitation. Due to the size of the quarry, water pumped from the new quarry on Klipplaatdrift, will be stored in Quarry 6. The mine will also erect a new plant on already disturbed soil. Concept Design includes a full-scale plant essentially including a primary crushing & screening with the first stage DMS followed by a 3 stage processing plant, Dryer, and Mag plant. There is no alternative. The activity is to backfill to aid in rehabilitation.
