Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

ProposalDescription: 

The KwaDukuza Municipality in partnership with Inqaba Community Trust proposes a housing development and associated infrastructure on approximately 250 hectares of land obtained via a successful land claim at Nonoti, situated over portions of the Farm Chantilly No 1804 and the proposed Portion A (of 33) of the Farm Hyde Park No 10233, Nonoti, KwaDukuza Municipality, KwaZulu-Natal. The site is situated approximately 15km north-east of the town Stanger and approximately 3km due north of Prince's Grant Estate.

Expanded_Motivation: 

The site is associated with the successful land claim of the Inqaba Community Trust that had been occupying the land for generations, whilst working on the sugar cane farms. The development therefore comprise of in-situ upgrade of the existing brownfields site and a small greenfields site (approx. 23ha) immediately to the South of the existing brownfields site. The development of the Greenfield site will ensure that adequate housing opportunities will be established and that these can be serviced as part of the Nonoti infrastructure provisions and upgrades. Findings of Heritage Assessment: A Shembe place of worship is located on the periphery of the proposed development area. This heritage resource has high significant of a specific community and at the local and regional levels and may not be altered in any way without the permission of the relevant church authorities and permit from Amafa. Recommendations: The developer should note that all graves and burial grounds identified have high significance at all levels for their social value and may not be altered in any way without a permit from Amafa.
