Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

This is a planned new chicken broiler facility of 18 HA in total and will be in construction for 4 years till 2026 and in operation for the next 30 years. There will be 3 sites of which each site will accommodate 6 broiler houses with 60 000 chickens in each house. Each of the three site areas will be demarcated and fenced off to operate on its own with a maximum footprint area of 6ha each and 18 ha in total. The entire area is cultivated fields with evidence of maize and of cultivation soya beans. The existing infrastructure found on site is access roads. Next to the site on the farm is farm buildings Eskom lines and boreholes etc.

Expanded_Motivation: 

This is a planned new CHICKEN BROILER FACILITY of 18 HA in total and will be in operation for the next 30 years. There will be 3 sites of which will accommodate 6 broiler houses on each site, thus 18 houses in total with 60 000 chickens in each house. There will be three sites 500m apart that will have 6 houses on each site The site area will be demarcated and fenced off to operate on its own with a maximum footprint area of 6 ha per site, 18ha in total. The entire area is currently used for cultivation of maize. The existing infrastructure found on the sites is an access road. The Chicken broiler sites will be clearly demarcated. Construction of 18 new chicken broiler houses with dimensions of 17m x 168m, each housing 60 000 chickens. The land was purchased by Nezar Agri PTY Ltd, the applicant on 3 June 2021, thus now the current occupier/landowner. The area earmarked for this development is used for cultivation. In phase 1 only the area where each house will be constructed will be cleared of vegetation. In phase 2 the houses will be constructed as a steel structure with sink roof. The floor foundations will be concrete. Each house will have its own coal heating system. In phase 3 the 6 houses of each site will be fenced off as a unit. The project duration will be four years as the intention is to build six houses in year one and then 4 houses a year for three years. These houses will have very limited environmental impacts. These houses will have no negative impact on any neighbour or community. A full public participation process will be undertaken. The duration of the construction will be 4 years till 2026.
