Permit for Museum Africa to lend MA1994-211 1976 Mortuary register with Hector Pietersen entry to Haus de Kunst , Munich Germany for Kendell Geers exhibition

Permission is requested for Museum Africa to loan the work “Untitled(1976)” by Kendell Geers, which is a mortuary register containing the entry for Hector Pieterson, killed in the Soweto Student Uprising, accession number MA1994-211, to the Haus de Kunst in Munich for an exhibition on Kendell Geers for the duration 23 January to 31 May 2013. The Haus de Kunst in Munich, Germany will be hosting a Kendell Geers exhibition showing both his South African political work, and installations done in Europe since 2000 and would like to include the register in their exhibition. The exhibition is being curated by well-regarded curators Okwui Enwezor and Clive Kellner. They are asking to borrow the register (MA1994-211) for the period 23 January to 31 May 2013. (See loan request letter). The item has been valued at R50 000 and will be insured by the Haus de Kunst both while on display and in transit. Haus de Kunst have agreed to pay for a courier to accompany the work. The shipping agent in South Africa will be Eugene Botha of Fine Art Logistics who will liaise with the German shippers Hasenkamp.
