Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Eskom Holdings Distribution- North West has been requested by Kagisano Molopo Municipality to electrify houses at Piet Plessis Extention. The project is part of 2023/2024 electrification plan. The new development consists of 265 stands. The houses are made of tin, mud and brick type. Communal water and pit toilets have been installed, with electricity to be supplied by Eskom. Piet Plessis is found at the outsketch of Ganyesa towards Stella, in between the farms. Phase 1 of the area was establised with RDP houses. This new area to be electrified is just an extention of the area. THe area falls within the Dr. Ruth Mompati District Municipality in the North West province.

Expanded_Motivation: 

The proposed development will entail construction of 22 kV power line (medium voltage), string bundle consctor (low voltage), mount transformers and split meters on the poles and connect houses. The extent of this linear activity is more than 300m in length. This triggers section 38(1) of the National Heritage Resources Act, 25 of 1999, which requires the heritage authority to be notified. The area for the proposed development is flat in slope with sandy soil. Grass cover is medium as some part are exposed. Dominant vegetation of the area is Vachelia Erioloba trees, with Acacia tortilis shrubs. The area has been distubed through establishment of houses, streets, water pipes and pit toilets. The is existing electricity in the area where the new proposed development will t-off from. No heritage resources have been identified on site during environmental screening.
