Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

THE PROPOSED CLEARANCE OF 210.6353 HECTARES OF INDIGENOUS VEGETATION FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF POPO MOLEFE TOWNSHIP ON PAARDEKRAAL FARM NO. 279 JQ WITHIN THE RUSTENBURG LOCAL MUNICIPALITY, IN THE NORTH WEST PROVINCE.

Expanded_Motivation: 

The applicant, the Department of Local Government and Human Settlements intends to establish low cost houses with basic services with basic services (water, electricity, sanitation and roads. The project will also extend for the provision of 4237 residential erven for lower income groups of Paardekraal. The proposed project will contribute to alleviating the current housing need in the area and access to social amenities. The proposed Development will entail the following: • 4237 residential units (220 m2) • 1 municipal • 18 businesses • 3 clinics • 3 community halls • 2 tax ranks • 1 secondary school • 2 primary School • 9 crèche • 12 church • 2 recreation • 10 public place -Construction of internal road, - Water, sewage and electricity reticulation infrastructure for the new development The proposed site/existing informal settlement of Popo Molefe is currently occupied by approximately 400 informal households with no water supply, sewerage and refuses collection however, electrical connection is available. The extent of the entire site of study is 210.6353 hectare, however 41.003 ha of the land is undevelopable. Portion of 4237 units to be development will be occupied by people currently residing in this informal settlement.
