ProposalDescription:

Expanded_Motivation:

THE EXISTING COMMERCIAL BUILDING DATES BACK TO MORE THAN 60 YEARS. THE ATTACHED SCANNED PLANS SHOW THE ORIGINAL BUILD AND SOME ALTERATIONS THAT WERE CARRIED OUT OVER THE YEARS. ALTHOUGH MORE THAN 60 YEARS OLD, WE DO NOT SEE OR FIND ANY RECORDS THAT MAY SUGGEST THAT THE BUILDING AT 186/190 UMGENI ROAD HAS ANY HERITAGE VALUE. HAVING VIEWED THE LATEST RECORD OF LISTED OR PROTECTED BUILDINGS IN DURBAN, THIS ADDRESS IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE DOCUMENT. THE OWNER(S3A TRUST) HAVING ACQUIRED THE PROPERTY IN 2004 HAS CARRIED OUT SOME INTERNAL CONSTRUCTION WORK. HE HAS DONE THESE CHANGES WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE OF REQUIRING AMAFA PERMIT APPROVAL. AND THUS NOW SEEKS TO MAKE RIGHT AND CORRECT THE SITUTION. HE WISHES TO CONSTRUCT ADDTIONAL CHANGES TO THE PROPERTY, WHICH WILL CHANGE THE EXTERNAL ELEVATIONS IN A MINOR WAY, MOSTLY TO THE REAR AND SIDES OF THE EXISTING BUILDING. THERE WILL BE NO ADDITIONAL FLOORS BEING ADDED BUT RATHER CHANGES MADE WITHIN THE EXISITNG FOORPRINT ON THE GROUND AND FIRST STOREY OF THE EX STRUCTURE.
