ProposalDescription:

The Applicant is proposing to demolish the unused Saltworks Facility and associated structures within the Port of Ngqura. The old Saltworks Facility lies in the area earmarked for the future expansion of the Port and as a result needs to be demolished and cleared. All demolished waste will be removed from site and correctly disposed at a registered waste disposal facility. The site also contains contaminated soil (as a result of previous operations and relocation activities at the Saltworks site) and the majority of this material will be removed and correctly disposed. The site will thereafter be levelled and grassed. The proposed project will take place within the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, Eastern Cape Province.
