Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

PGS Heritage has been appointed by Anglo American Platinum – Der Brochen, to affect the relocation of five (5) graves as claimed by the family representatives located on the farm Helena 6 JT, in Steelpoort, within the Fetakgomo Tubatse Locality Municipality Sekhukhune District Municipality Limpopo Province.

Expanded_Motivation: 

The above-mentioned graves will be affected by mining-related activities of the Anglo American Platinum – Der Brochen project area. The graves will be relocated to a previously identified cemetery on the Farm Mareesburg, near Steelpoort in the Fetakgomo Tubatse Municipality, in accordance with the requirements of the Next-of-kin. We will be assisted on this project by Mosaic Funeral Group (MFG). The stakeholder engagement process, to identify the closest next of kin for the graves commenced on 13 October 2020. The next-of-kin of the affected graves were contacted by Anglo American Platinum and the need for the graves to be relocated has been explained to them. They consequently gave written permission (in the form of affidavits) for the graves to be relocated. Additional to this, the following action was taken: • The graves were marked and numbered; • A graves register was compiled; • Bilingual site notices announcing the intention to relocate the graves were erected at the gravesites that should stay up for a period of 60 days; • Bilingual newspaper notices announcing the intention to relocate the graves were published in the Daily Mail, Steelburger Koerant and Government Gazette which will give notice for a period of 14 days for responses. It must be mentioned that Anglo American Platinum has been in continuous contact with the next-of-kin of the affected graves and they are fully aware of the relocation process.
