Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Expanded_Motivation: 

A prominent “Modernist” public building, characteristic of the 1950’s government buildings. A monolithic brown facebrick multi-storey building with vertical proportion windows and concrete ledges and projecting eye-brow roof. The Property is situated on the corner of Masonic Grove and Margaret Mncadi rd (previously Victoria Embankment or the Esplanade). It’s public entrance is from Masonic Grove and service entrance from the esplanade. The opposite corner is the property of the Durban High Court which is set back from the Esplanade. Masonic Grove has restricted vehicular access and can be accessed from Anton Lembede (Smith) st and from the Esplanade. The Esplanade has a number of mulit-storey buildings on the road boundaries. The building has suffered damage due to lack of maintenance, roof leaks and usage. The Department of Works wishes to repair damage, restore finishes and replace damaged materials. Refer to notes on drawings for specifications of materials.
