Development Type:

ProposalDescription:

Revised proposals prepared by DHK Architects for the Drostdy Centre on Erf 5357 Stellenbosch to further mitigate height, bulk scale and massing impacts and detailed in the DHK report dated 17 March 2017 are required by HWC to be re-submitted to IAP's for comment including SAHRA Western Cape

Expanded_Motivation:

The existing Drostdy Building situated on the site is a PHS and while being retained and restored the proposed development on the balance of the site triggers a permit application in terms of Section 27 of the NHRA, because of minor alterations that will take place to the existing building. The potential impact of the proposed development on heritage resources especially the proposed Grade 1 De Braak open space in Stellenbosch and the adjacent street environs of the Stellenbosch Conservation Area has been the subject of various iterations submitted to Heritage Western Cape. The potential impacts have been further reduced with the revised proposals, but because the proposals have changed, HWC require them to be re-submitted to IAP's for comment, including SAHRA Western Cape.
