ProposalDescription:

Prospecting (Bulk sampling) of diamonds (in general), sand, clay and tailing dumps on the Remainder of Portion 3 (excluding Permits 1-3), Portion 4, Remainder of Portion 5 and Portion 9 (excluding Permit 4) of the Farm Riet Puts 15; and a portion of Stateland, Magisterial District of Kimberley, Northern Cape Province.

Expanded_Motivation:

The Wedberg Communal Property Association holds a Preferent Prospecting Right (REF: NC 01/2012 PPR) for diamonds (in general), sand, clay and tailing dumps on the Remainder of Portion 3 (excluding Permits 1-3), Remainder of Portion 5 and Portion 9 (excluding Permit 4) of the Farm Riet Puts 15; and a portion of Stateland. The property is situated 6 km east of Windsorton on the R374 and falls within the Magisterial District of Kimberley. Prospecting activities commenced in October 2015, but the applicant now endeavors to extend the prospecting area to include Portion 4 of the Farm Riet Puts 15, along with the adjacent portion of Stateland. Subsequently, the company has submitted a Section 102 application to the Department of Mineral Resources, which triggered the requirement to apply for Environmental Authorisation (S&EIR), Waste Licence (BAR) and a Water Use Licence. The prospecting activities will involve the testing of alluvial gravels by means of opencast trenching and pitting using heavy earthmoving equipment as well as the associated processing of the material with diamond processing plants. Residue deposits (slimes dams) will also be established. Furthermore, a river diversion and the pitting and trenching in the beds and banks of the Vaal River are planned.
