Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Proposed Service Station and Truck Stop on Portion 43 of farm Rooidraai 34JT, Lydenburg, Mpumalanga Province.

Expanded_Motivation: 

Bueka Ontwikkelings Trust as landowners of Portion 43 (a portion of portion 16) of the farm Rooidraai 34JT is proposing to develop a new Filling Station and Truck Stop. The proposed development is situated south-west of the intersection of the R540 Dullstroom-Lydenburg road and the R577 Roossenekal road in the Mpumalanga Province (refer to map as per Annexure A). The site is approx. 10 hectares in extent and the proposed development area will amount to approx. 6.5 hectares. The proposed development area /site is located 5 km from the town of Lydenburg and there are no visible permanent building structures, informal settlements, agricultural activities, public roads, power lines, water and/or gas pipelines, rocky outcrops, natural waterways, wetlands or large trees on the terrain. The site has been disturbed previously by agricultural activities and is currently zoned for agriculture. A rezoning application is required and the land will be rezoned to industrial 1 /equivalent applicable zoning. The rezoning application will run in parallel to the EIA process. The closest filling station from the proposed development site is 5 km. It is located in the town of Lydenburg and forms part of a shopping centre complex. Access for large trucks to the filling station n town is very limited and in some cases impossible (ref). Other adequate filling stations with truck stop facilities lie 51 km away in the direction of the town of Dullstroom and 64 km away towards Roossenekal.
