Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

The proposed development entails the construction of a twenty five meter (25 m) high Lattice Mast on Erf 31644, Kimberley, Northern Cape Province. The mast will be surrounded by an 8 meter x 10 meter security fence that will have an approximate height of 2.4 meters, therefore the total permanent development footprint will be 80 square meters.

Expanded_Motivation: 

Highwave Consultants (PTY) Ltd. on behalf of Blue Sky Towers (PTY) Ltd. (The Applicant) appointed RR Consulting, an Independent Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP), to undertake the formal application in order to confirm the needed specialists and assessment for the heritage application in terms of the Heritage Resources Act for the proposed development of a twenty-five metre (25m) high Lattice Mast on Erf 31644, Kimberley, Northern Cape Province. The proposed development entails the construction of a twenty-five meter (25 m) high Lattice Mast on Erf 31644, Kimberley, Northern Cape Province. The mast will be surrounded by an 8-meter x 10-meter security fence that will have an approximate height of 2.4 meters, therefore the total permanent development footprint will be 80 square meters. According to the map dataset as per SAHRIS website (https://sahris.sahra.org.za/map/palaeo) the proposed site falls within a grey area, meaning no palaeontological studies are required. Whether the proposed site falls within the Height Restrictions zone according to section 12 of the Draft Land Use Management Scheme 2008 is to be confirmed by the competent authority. We hereby would like lodge a formal request to an applicable official within the Northern Cape Department of Heritage Resource Management to state the need for a Heritage Impact Assessment and all the required specialist studies that the application may require, in order to submit the written request to our client to proceed with the application due diligently. As the applicant has requested to receive a formal notice in terms of the process to adhere to.
