Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Rectification of the clearing of land and the construction of vineyards, a dam, pipelines and associated infrastructure on Erf 2435, 387, 1248 and 2106 Kakamas South Settlement, Northern Cape Province

Expanded_Motivation: 

The proposed development triggered the section 24G process due to due to the unlawful clearing of vegetation and development within 32m of a stream without authorisation. 1. 2016-2017 Development: • Construction took place during 2016/2017 for the infrastructure development associated with the cultivation of the vineyards of approximately 2.6ha. • 2.6ha indigenous vegetation was cleared for the construction to take place. • The construction took place over small ephemeral streams without authorisation. 2. Proposed further developments The proposed developments include: • the construction of a dam with a volume of 12671m3 and pump room. • A pump station at the Orange River. • the development of 50ha vineyard. • 315mm uPVC pipeline of about 2.4km from the river to the proposed dam. • Irrigation lines. As a result of this, about 50ha indigenous vegetation will be removed from the area.
