Expanded_Motivation:

The existing house is a large single-storey house with a hipped clay tiled roof, it has minimal architectural detailing. The outbuilding is a double garage on the lower portion of the site. D-3 Work commenced/ carried out : Outbuilding on the boundary demolished The existing roof of the garage and laundry removed and a residential unit, storeroom and bathroom added to first floor level. D-4 Motivation : The owners wanted to add to the outbuilding for the use of their family members and to improve their property. The proposal was submitted to Ethekwini Town Planning on 18/02/2020 on their on-line system. They acknowledged that it was “lost” and was therefore resubmitted on 11/03/2021. A month later without any response, the owner started construction providing the BI with proof of the applications. Town planning approval was received on 08/02/2022, no request for an Amafa application was received at this stage. A referral from DAA on 04/03/2022 requested an Amafa permit. At this stage the alterations had been completed.
