Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Expanded_Motivation: 

Renovations to existing cottage in St Johns School: Removal and replacement of existing roof and trusses. repairs of structural cracks, pre-painting, and Timber flooring to remain as is, originally built as a residence on the school grounds and is now used as staff quarters and offices.No information is available on the original Architect or The Builder. A single- storey gable fronted building with a corrugated iron roof and painted brick walls (no plaster). A mix of sliding sash and steel frame windows. The main rooms have suspended timber floor with the kitchen and bathrooms having concrete floors. The veranda posts are timber with timber beams over. The beams are rotted in places. The school is set in a residential area and bounded by the N3 freeway on one side adjoining buildings are mostly single-storey residence. The cottage is set deep within the site and is not visible from the street. The building has fallen into a state of disrepair and the roof was also damaged Iin a recent hail storm. The school wants to renovate it to an acceptable standard for office use. The ceiling height, especially in the kitchen is very low (2.4M) and needs to be raised. The roof trusses are in a poor condition and pose a danger to the occupants. There are also structural cracks in places that needs to be fixed. The existing roof and trusses are to be removed and replaced with a new roof at higher level. The new roof profile will match the existing profile. New ceilings will be provided. Existing windows and doors are to be retained,but serviced and repainted. Existing timber floors are to be taken up and replaced with concrete slab. all plumbing, sanitary fittings, and electrical items are to be stripped and replaced with new ones. Rectification of work done prior an Amafa approval: St john School for Girls is a private boarding and day school for girls with security being the utmost important requirements, hence the replacing of the old wire mesh fence. On new England Road, the classrooms are built almost on the boundary line and taking into account the road traffic noise and pedestrians, a solid wall replaced the existing precast concrete wall. Existing wire mesh fence removed from Harwin Road boundary and replaced with new walls with wrought iron infill to match existing Existing precast concrete boundary walls on New England Road replaced with solid brick walls. Site Area = 65 264 SQ M (6,5264 HECTARES)
