Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Expanded_Motivation: 

The building was destroyed during the July 2021 riots and is being reconstructed to the same plan as per the previous alterations done in 2017 and the rebuild plan was approved by the Ethekwini Municipality in May 2022 Motivation for Restoration : 2022 Reconstruction of 393 Dr Pixley Kaseme Street – Sportscene – destroyed during the 2021 riots - The email from Ros Devereux refers, Amafa application required for the 2017 and 2022 constructions. The devastated building is being reconstructed as per the previous approved plan of 2017, new plans submitted have been approved by Ethekwini Municipality in May 2022 Due to the building being destroyed and the fact that it is being rebuilt as per the previous approval, we received confirmation from Durban Municipality, Yashin (see attached email) that due to the damage having been caused during the riots and the fact that the building is being reconstructed as per the previously approved plans, that no submission to Amafa was required. Amafa still insisted on the new application, hence the submission for unlawful , commencement and condonation for rectification of the destroyed building. (proof of payment R 4000.00 attached.)
