Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation

Special Notice

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

1World Consultants (Pty) Ltd (1World) have been appointed by Architects Collaborative, on behalf of the applicant, Universal Islamic Cultural Trust (UICT), as the independent Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) tasked with undertaking the required environmental services for the proposed construction of the Vulindlela Eco-Village located along Umlaas Road in Camperdown, approximately 55km from Durban and 25km from Pietermaritzburg on the N3. The proposed eco-village will be centered around a learning environment that will cater for 300 primary students who will live and be taught on site. Staff accommodation is provided on site and there will be chalets for visitors located around the dam. To support the center, there will be a low throughput shed on site which will slaughter and process beef and lamb for use by the institute as well as qurbani operations for KZN.

Expanded_Motivation: 

The village will be utilized as a learning center that will cater to approximately 300 students who will live in the compounds of the village. The village will also house the following structures: • Staff accommodation; • Chalets for visitors that will be located around the dam; • Sports field; • Educational facility with dormitory; • Ancillary and service facilities; and • A low throughput abattoir / shed for the slaughter and process of beef and lamb for the Islamic ritual of Eid-Ul-Adha. The abattoir / shed is inclusive of chicken as well.
