Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Launch for the new version of SAHRIS occurred on Monday the 30th of October 2023.

3G Policy and Procedure

Luvo and I had a brief discussion around the above matter this morning.
 
As you know, there is no formal policy or procedure around issuing users with 3G devices / contracts.  IT Unit was informed by the top management at the time, that only Execs and Unit heads be issued with 3G's.  This was a decision taken at a management meeting, although no one could provide me with the minutes taken.
 
We have witness the growth in need of the above, and staff have been querying Luvo on how and when they will be given access to this tool (Built Environment Unit and other staff who are away from office from time to time).
 
I like to recommend that Management discuss this matter so that some form of policy around who gets 3g and under what conditions / requirements it is given.  In terms of the way forward / cloud / mobility and accessibility / cost management  - we need to be prepared to not only make access available from anywhere, anytime, but also provide the tool to access from anywhere/anytime to our users.
