Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Launch for the new version of SAHRIS occurred on Monday the 30th of October 2023.

Conditions: 

1. Permission must be obtained for the sampling and export of material from the Pretoria collection. SAHRA requires a letter or email from the curator confirming this permission.
2. It is understood that the bones will be photographed before sampling and that the sampling will not inhibit future morphological analyses. Dr Horsburg has agreed to send an addendum to the application detailing the number of bones from each category sampled at each site, with relevant photographs.
3. The specimens must be clearly marked with accession numbers. The material must be carefully packed and all packaging must be clearly marked with the accession numbers, the name of the site, and the name and address of the permit holder or the Universities of Witwatersrand and Pretoria as appropriate.
4. The material must be hand carried or sent via a reputable professional courier service unless written instructions to the contrary has been received from the repositories, the Universities of Witwaters¬rand and Pretoria.
5. The material may not be loaned to any person or institution other than Dr K Ann Horsburg at the University of Otago without the consent of SAHRA.
6. Any residues from the analysis shall be returned to South Africa on or before 1 May 2010 at the expense of Dr Horsburg. SAHRA must be notified in writing of the return of the material, and a report on the activities undertaken in terms of this permit must be lodged with SAHRA before 1 May 2010.
7. Copies of all papers or publications resulting from this permit must be lodged with SAHRA.
8. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.
9. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.
10. This permit is subject to a general appeal and may be suspended should an appeal against the decisions be received by SAHRA within 14 days from the date issue. SAHRA may not be held responsible for any costs or losses incurred in the event of the suspension or retraction of the permit.
