Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Temporary export of 25 bone fragments and breccia samples from Malapa, Gauteng

Conditions: 

This permit is for the temporary export of 25 bone fragments and one breccia sample from Malapa.

Conditions:

  1. The bone fragments and breccia samples must be clearly marked with accession numbers.
  2. The material must be carefully packed and all packaging must be clearly marked with the accession numbers, the name of the site, and the name and address of Dr Zipfel or Dr Backwell at the Evolutionary Studies Institute or of Dr Francesco d’Errico at the CNRS at the University of Bordeaux.
  3. The material must be hand carried or sent via a reputable professional courier service unless written instructions to the contrary have been received from the repository, the Evolutionary Studies Institute. SAHRA understands that Dr Lucinda Backwell will hand carry the specimens to France and will undertake the analyses in collaboration with Dr d'Errico. 
  4. The samples must be kept for study purposes only, and may not be sold or exchanged.
  5. The material may not be loaned to any person or institution other than Dr d'Errico at the CNRS without the consent of SAHRA.
  6. SAHRA must be notified in writing of the return of the material, and a report on the activities undertaken in terms of this permit must be lodged with SAHRA before the end of February 2015.
  7. Copies of any papers that may result from the export of the material must be lodged with SAHRA. 
  8. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.
  9. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.
