FullStatementOfSignificance:

This station building, which dates from the early 1880s, was presumably erected by George Pauling, the local Railway Engineer, for the firm R Firbank & Co, to whom the building contract was granted. This buikding is not only closely associated with the history of the Kowie Railway Company and its successor, the Kowie Railway Syndicate, but also forms an integral part of the present railway system between Port Alfred and Grahamstown.
