Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Launch for the new version of SAHRIS occurred on Monday the 30th of October 2023.

Directions: 

Go S from BW, turn W on Merweville/Fraserburg road, to Berg-en-Dal. Then go up little pass through valley which opens up to Karoo beyond Losberg. Go N up Oukloof Pass towards Fraserburg, turn R at gate marked Branewynsgat, through several gates (all S of watershed). Pass Brandewynsgat far below on E, pass drystone ruin with garden and poplar trees, continue N through spectacular mountain scenery.Corbelled dwelling is at bottom of valley before you get to Waterval.

SiteComments: 

Corbelled drystone dwelling (nat mon) said to be most southerly example. It has a kookskerm.
