Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation

History: This building was built as a "Wine House" or tavern in 1897 by J. P. Eksteen and is probably the oldest building of its kind in South Africa.
Access Details: Accessible to property owner
Date Unveiled: 1797
Inscriptions: This building was erected as a wine house by Jp eksteenin 1797 and is probably the oldest existing wine house in south Africa.
Environmental Context: It's close to the main road and there's trees next to it close to the Simon's town museum.
