Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

The permit is issued to Dr. Bernhard Zipfel, on behalf of Dr J. Braga (University de Toulouse) and Dr. F. Thackeray (Evolutionary Studies Institute at the University of the Witwatersrand), to temporarily export one hominin craniodental specimen KW7000 from Kromdraai B (Cradle of Humankind WHS) for synchrotron analysis at the TOMCAT facility, Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) in Switzerland.The object is currently housed at the Evolutionary Studies Institute (ESI) at the University of the Witwatersrand.

Conditions:

1. Only the selected representative of the material stored in the collection may be exported.

2. The material must be carefully packed and all packaging must be clearly marked with the name of the site (if known), and the name and address of the permit holder or the ESI.

3. The material will be hand-carried by Dr Jose Braga to Paul Scherrer Institute and back before 31 May 2018.

4. Dr Jose Braga is responsible for the analysis of the material and its transport to and from the above mentioned institutions/collections.

5. The sample must be used for study purposes only, and may not be sold or exchanged.

6. The material may not be loaned to any person or institution other than the above stated participants in the study, without the consent of SAHRA.

7. No destructive analysis or sampling may be undertaken.

8. A report on the activities undertaken in terms of this permit must be lodged with SAHRA before 31 May 2019.

9. Copies of any papers that may result from the export of the material must be lodged with SAHRA.

10. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

11. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.

12. Request to renew permits must be done at least two months prior to the expiry of the existing permit.
