Directions:

Towards southern edge of Agtersfontein plateau, southernmost outcrop, almost overlooking Tra-Tra River. Low deep shelter on south side of main flat outcrop.

SiteComments:

Shelter has multiple chambers and a tunnel section. Three main adjacent chambers: first/left part of cave is moderately-sized and has some artefacts close to the drip-line. This main overhang also covers/adjoins to the second/middle chamber: quite big, extending back into a low cave with sandy floor (also rock art at entrance). The third/right is a very low tunnel (crawling room only) with MSA eroding out – possibly wash from the middle cave? Also chambers at right end of shelter with animal bones (not explored in detail), cave and deep crevice going back into outcrop. Sandy floors, no apparent deposit. Rubbly/rocky floor around two large flat rock-fall boulders at front part of cave, rocks possibly piled up into rough wall (although could be natural). Indeterminate material from main shelter (on far east): hornfels, quartz, also quartzite (coarse-grained, bleached/patinated) with MSA features. MSA material from tunnel: convergent points, elongated/blade-like pieces, preferential Levallois flake. Mainly light-grey C1 CCS and fine-grained quartzite with two hornfels pieces.
