Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Permit renewal for specimens on display at CosmoCaixa, Barcelona

The permit is issued to Dr Roger Smith (Iziko South African Museum, Cape Town) as an extension for a temporary export permit (SAHRIS caseID 2922; PermitID 525; No.80/03/06/010/62) for two palaeontological specimens (Thrinaxodon SAM-PK-K01120 and Mesosaurus SAM-PK-K08409) on long-term display at CosmoCaixa (Museu de la Ciencia), Barcelona. The specimens are being curated by Alex Perez, “la Caixa” Foundation. The material is accessioned at Iziko South African Museum, Cape Town.

Conditions:

1. Álex Pérez Jiménez (CosmoCaixa, Museu de la Ciencia) is responsible for the safety of the specimens for the duration of the exhibition at the above mentioned institutions/collections and their transport back to the accessioning institution.

2. The specimen must be used for exhibition purposes only, and may not be sold or exchanged.

3. The material may not be loaned to any person or institution other than the above stated participants in the study, without the consent of SAHRA.

4. No destructive analysis or sampling may be undertaken.

5. A report on the activities undertaken in terms of this permit must be emailed to apmpermitreports@sahra.org.za on or before 31 October 2022.

6. Copies of any papers that may result from the export of the material must be lodged with SAHRA.

7. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

8. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.

9. Should any legal proceedings arise with regard to this permit or the transport and loan of the material, these proceedings must be addressed within in the South African legislative framework.

10. Request to renew permits must be done at least two months prior to the expiry of the existing permit.
